Afghanistan was one of the recipients of our humanitarian assistance before September 11, 2001. Poverty, famine, a devastating drought, and years of war and civil strife created a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, which prompted the organization to assist with the following: blankets and quilts; shelter kits, plastic sheeting, winterized tents, mattresses, clothes, cooking sets, water and water containers.
We also provided medical kits and funds for health centers and mobile clinics. Part of the support included sponsoring programs etc. Essential support also included traveling with trained medical personnel to conduct educational outreach on basic health and nutrition, especially to women.
