Regarding a person who helps putting up a Masjid, the prophet (S.A.W.) said, "Whosoever builds for the sake of Allah a Masjid, Allah will reward him similar to it in paradise." In another narration, the Prophet (saw) said, "Whosoever shares in building a Masjid for Allah (swt), even if it is as small as a bird?s nest, Allah (S.W.T.) will build for him a house in Paradise." This is the greatest news for a winning investment that is guaranteed by Allah (S.W.T.).

Building a Masjid for the sake of Allah is a Sadaqah Jariah (continues charity), meaning the reward will continue to reach the donor even after death. The great magnitude of contributing to the construction of the Masjid goes well with the great role of the Masjid and its importance:

The role of the Masjid in the lives of Muslims is great; in reality, it is the beating heart of the Muslim society. From here comes the importance of the contribution to the building, supervising, and managing it. Allah (S.W.T.) likes to see the brotherhood and love to spread among the believers. So, the Masjid is the place where Muslims meet daily for their prayer before Allah (S.W.T.). So their souls get purified and they meet for the love of Allah (S.W.T.). Allah (S.W.T.) wants care to prevail in the practice amongst Muslims. Discussions to solve social issues also take place in the Masjid. So it is important to have at least one Masjid in a community so that solutions to the community?s problems can emanate from the Masjid.

With this in mind, the Institute for Islamic Services coordinates putting up, completing or renovating Masajids around South Africa. The IIS has built Masjid al Malik in Soshanguve. This is a unique project as it is designed to be both a place of Ibadah as well as a place of economic empowerment for the underprivileged people of the township. Adjacent to the Masjid are shops that are run by the Musallees and whatever little profit they make, sustains their families as well as assist in the Masjid. Inshallah this idea is intended for other disadvantaged areas as well.

Where a community is struggling to complete a Masjid, the IIS assists in coordinating the funds to do so. The organization has assisted in the extension / renovation, as well as putting new Musallahs in Maitland Masjid in Capetown. Other beneficiaries of this Masjid Project are the Muslim communities of Carletonville as well as Polokwane where we helped in the completion of a Masjid. We pray that Muslims join hands in assisting to put up the houses of Ibadah where ever they are greatly needed Inshallah.

Qurbani 2010

By the grace of Allah (swt), the IIS India Bihar District Operation Qurbani was successfully carried out, Alhamdulillah! Hafez Yusuf Joosub, the IIS representative flew to and on the following day, he was met by the other SA delegation that left earlier on. The group left for Delhi to connect to Patna via a train. Along the way, they faced endless hardship of interrogation by the authorities because their visit coincided with the recent bombings in India. Every roadblock they met was a nightmare as questions after questions were heaped upon them. Nevertheless
